STOCK GIFTS

​A gift of stock (or other appreciated property) entitles you to a tax deduction for the market value of the donated stock (not just the cost basis). If the stock you wish to donate has been held for more than one year, you can avoid capital gains tax on any appreciation of the stock by donating the stock prior to sale. The Learning Collaborative benefits by selling the stock without paying taxes on the gain, and you benefit from making a contribution that would be larger than what you might have been able to otherwise donate.

HARRIS TEETER VIC CARD
TLC SCHOOL CODE: 5119
​Each August remember to re-link your Harris Teeter VIC card to The Learning Collaborative.  By doing so, TLC will receive a donation from Harris Teeter.  If you are linked to more than one school, donations are divided evenly. 

CORPORATE MATCHING GIFTS
If you’re an employee – Ask at work whether your company has a matching gifts program. Your donation goes twice as far when your employer matches it.  Most matching gift programs are now online, please contact your HR department for details. Contact us if you have questions regarding the process.
If you’re an employer – Matching your employees’ gifts makes a meaningful philanthropic impact in our community.  Your support educates, empowers, and inspires future generations to build a stronger Charlotte.

ESTATE GIFTS
There are many ways to include a charitable gift in your will, trust, or estate plan. Planned gifts such as annuities and trusts may provide you with funds during your lifetime, while also supporting The Learning Collaborative. Such a gift can be structured in a way that does not jeopardize your current financial needs or those of your loved ones. We encourage you to contact your professional advisor to plan a gift that meets your philanthropic goals and expresses your generosity and caring.
